No, I do not need you to tell me that he is 4 and not a baby. I get it- it’s just a term of indearment, mmkay?
But his room needed some sprucing up and it all started with a map! I was in love with the huge wall map canvas at Ikea but not in love with the price tag. So that got me thinking, where else could I find a large map? Craigslist of course! And it didn’t fail me- I found a listing for a large 1950’s USA school pull down map…. squeal! I kept my cool and called and offered $75 on his $100 listing and he flat out shot me down and said he would not accept offers… tear. That tear was only half way down my cheek when he called back to say that he changed his mind and would take it! (His wife told him to do it… smart lady:)
I did my happy dance and raced over to get it and it was beautiful!! The colors were amazing and just the character of it was so fun. It inspired me to paint his small blue stripes and his clock an orangy red color and I got him a new lamp shade. It’s amazing the difference it made in his room. Such small things but I think it makes it all come together!
Picture mania…
These cog looking things, I found at Hobby Lobby and just to put you all at ease, they are plastic and hung up with a tac! I am crazy, but not that crazy! It’s a little boy’s room! And you can see the start of the orange stripes which I will share more about tomorrow…
I love maps! What a great one you have here. And, I still call my 6yr old my baby. However, I’ve been banned from calling her my baby in front of her friends. They grow up way too fast! Thank you for the visit and the sweet comment at The Dedicated House. It means the world! Feel free to share this great post or any other at my Make it Pretty Monday party which is currently live. Here is the link if you want to check it out. http://thededicatedhouse.blogspot.com/2013/10/make-it-pretty-monday-week-73.html Hope to see you at the bash! Toodles, Kathryn @TheDedicatedHouse

Love this!!! I’m a HUGE map and globe lover so this is right up my alley! I have an old pull down school map in my family room and it’s one of those things that makes me smile when I look at it. Can’t wait to see the rest of the room. Great job!
Thanks Mel! It makes me want to just sit in his room!:)
Love this! I hung a huge map in my husband office! It’s ok to call hime baby, my son is 15 and he is still my baby 🙂
Thanks Sonya! Good to know because I’m pretty sure I can’t keep myself from calling him that;)
Love that map! Such a fun addition to his room.

This looks great! We have one just like it that my husband’s grandfather had in his classroom (he was an elementary school teacher). I pulled it out today and found a place to hang it, but it is so heavy! What did you use to hang yours?
Sorry I’m just replying!! yes, they are super heavy- I went to Lowes and got some serious big gun wall anchors and screws and then said a prayer after I put it on the wall;) It has hung for several weeks now so hopefully we are good!
