Do you decorate for winter? It’s two-fold for me, on one hand I am always happy to take all of the holiday decor down and have a clean slate- but on the other hand, I do really love the festive way the house feels with all the lights and special decorations up.
This year I was mildly obsessed with my random disco ball in the entry way for my holiday decor.
I wasn’t ready to say goodbye to it! I mean, every home in the burbs should have a disco ball, am I right?! So the only logical thing to do was to incorporate it into some winter decor. Now I don’t typically decorate for winter, but this year I decided to leave a few traces of holiday decor up that weren’t overtly Christmas.
I left my book trees up that I did flanking my entertainment center… cause why not? You can see how I used several Ikea pieces to create our custom Entertainment Center here!
And while I confess that I have a hard time editing out ‘things’ in my house- I did pair down the schtuff on the shelves and made it look a bit cleaner.
I basically used what I had with the addition to a new wood bowl from HomeGoods that was simply too gorgeous for me to pass up!
And I shopped the house and used my beach wood branch.
The mantle is always my arch decorating nemesis… Always. It sucks the decorating spirit right out of me!! For whatever reason I always stand back and think… it’s missing something. My headstone will say: Amazing Daughter, Wife, Mother, and Mediocre Mantle Decorator.
I wanted it to be simple- but also bring some of the colors from my beloved rug up- so the navy clock and oil painting helped combine my love of an eclectic mix!
And some of my favorite details in the room…. A picture of my Mom and Dad…
My favorite HomeGoods tray with the Nate Berkus for Target Angel tray and fun Target pillows in the background!
and our growing collection of seashells… I am desperately ready to add to them!
So let us all take one long last look at our clean family room… it might only last this way another 2 seconds… but at least the pretty things I have in here make me smile even through the clutter:)
Here’s an easy picture you can PIN to come back for sources later!
Hope you are having a wonderful day!

That picture of your parents just screams “LOVE!!!” The best!! And in no particular order… coveting the wooden bowl, the apple painting and the disco ball. But one morning… mark my words… you will come downstairs to your family room and THAT RUG WILL BE GONE! In it’s place will be a cryptic note made with cut out magazine letters.
xx
Hahaha! If you come all the way to Tx to steal my rug, you better at least have a drink with me first! and thank you- you pretty much picked out my faves too:) xoxo
That rug is incredible! I love that wooden bowl too. I passed on a similar one at HomeGoods and I’m still kicking myself for it. And I swear I’m the only blogger without a disco ball. I need to change that STAT!
